Danny Glover will be sentenced in Canada next
month following his conviction Thursday for trespassing in a Niagara
Falls, Ontario hotel, reports the Associated Press.
The actor-activist
participated in a Sept. 16, 2006 union rally that sought to boost
salaries and improve working conditions for hotel workers in the U.S.
and Canada. Following the protest, Canadian Niagara Hotels accused
Glover and two others of trespassing at their Sheraton on the Falls
property.
Glover, 60, was not in court Thursday when the conviction was announced. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 8.
The two other men convicted
Thursday were Ontario Federation of Labor President Wayne Samuelson and
Alex Dagg of UNITE HERE, a union which represents 50,000 hotel, food
service, garment and manufacturing workers across Canada and 450,000 in
North America. SOURCE OF THIS STORY
