Mumia Abu-Jamal who has been in prison since his conviction in 1982, has recently lost his latest bid to have his conviction overturned. The U.S. Supreme Court said on Monday it would not take up his case. Mr. Jamal was convicted 27 years ago, for killing a Philadelphia Police Officer. He has maintained his innocent since. Mr. Jamal has been very prolific in keeping his case alive, and his beliefs of the injustice he has said he experienced 27 years ago. His story has gained National attention, from ordinary citizens, to some main stream celebrities. It would seem that Mr. Jamal is at the end of his journey to stay his execution. His death penalty sentence is still a matter of debate in the courts. Last year in March 08 the "3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia upheld Abu-Jamal's conviction," but ruled his death sentence was invalid. Apparently, they found some irregularites in the juror instructions during the penalty phase of his trial. Mumia Abu-Jamal remains steadfast in his conviction that his conviction will be overturned in the near future. He has kept his case alive through various books and radio broadcasts.
